The 2016 Honda Civic is the North American Car of the Year

Published on January 27 2016

A decade after the 2006 Honda Civic won the prestigious title of North American Car of the Year, the tenth generation Honda Civic has done it again. The all-new 2016 Honda Civic was again named the NACOTY at this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The new Civic is still the most popular vehicle in Canada, and the lineup has been now for 18 years. The brand new Civic features a new turbo engine, a first for the Civic, as well as a host of improvements including new active safety technologies, more interior space, a brand new design and a full list of connectivity technologies.

That certainly explains why the Civic was just named the North American Car of the Year by a panel of over 50 international automotive journalists.

“The 10th generation Civic was developed and is built in North America, making this North American Car of the Year win even sweeter,” said Dave Gardner, Senior Vice President of Operations, Honda Canada Inc. “Being built at our facility in Alliston Ontario and the number one car for Canadians for 18 consecutive years has cemented Civic’s importance in Canada. We are delighted that automotive press has recognized the new levels of styling, performance, advanced technology, safety, and value that characterize the new Civic."
