Subaru Impreza 5-Door Concept: The future

Published on January 27 2016

Largely unchanged since its last redesign in 2011, the Impreza was definitely due for an update.

When redesigning one of your most popular models, you’ve got to have some strategy thrown into the mix. And strategy is precisely what Subaru showed when they unveiled their Impreza 5-Door Concept at the 2016 Montreal International Auto Show.

Some expected changes come with the Impreza 5-door Concept

Largely unchanged since its last redesign in 2011, the Impreza was definitely due for an update. Subaru has a habit of revealing concepts that end up sharing an almost exact resemblance with the actual model, and shortly after. It’s a good tactic to gauge the public’s reaction, and Subaru definitely garnered positive reactions to this concept of the Impreza 5-Door.

Featuring Subaru’s latest Dynamic x Solid design language, the Impreza 5-Door Concept features the all-new take on the hawk-eye headlights featuring LED accents, and the car sports an overall more fluidic and sculpted look. However, you’ll notice the signature hexagonal grille design remains, as does the muscular shoulder line and sporty stance.

Subaru is on a roll, the Impreza 5-Door Concept is just further proof of that

With seating for 5 and available 19” wheels, the look of the Impreza 5-Door Concept is robust, masculine and mature. Sitting at 4.4 meters long, this hatch also looks promising where interior space and cargo area are concerned. In all, it looks ready to slot itself into the Subaru lineup as is, no changes necessary.

While Subaru has not revealed details on what lays beneath the newly silhouetted hood of the Impreza 5-Door Concept, there are rumblings of a new powerplant set to emerge…

Until we know more though, it’s safe to say that if Subaru decided to outfit the new Impreza 5-Door with the same 2.0L horizontally opposed 4-cylinder BOXER engine that produces 148 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque found in the current generation Subaru Impreza lineup, it wouldn’t be a bad thing at all.

Of course, regardless of engine specs, the Impreza 5-Door will sport Subaru’s renowned and highly regarded symmetrical all-wheel drive system, ensuring this practical easy-to-live with 5-door won’t just be great to look at on the road, it’ll be able to handle any conditions you drive it through.

To find out more about the Impreza 5-Door Concept, head down to Ogilvie Subaru today to speak to one of our experts. And while you can’t get behind the wheel of the concept car (unfortunately!), you can definitely book a test drive in the current generation Subaru Impreza 5-Door or sedan, and we highly recommend it.
