Mercedes-Benz Winter Driving Academy : fun in the snow

Published on January 26 2016

Price at $ 795 per person, the Mercedes-Benz Winter Driving Academy gives drivers the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz and learn proper winter driving techniques.

It's time to master winter driving

Winter is something every Canadian knows very well. Canadians are also aware of the challenges of winter driving. Every year around November, drivers in Ontario know they need to start modifying their driving behavior in order to take into account colder temperatures and the increasing possibility that the road will be slippery.

Regardless of the vehicle you drive, you have to beware of winter. Mercedes-Benz vehicles are adapted to winter, especially those equipped with 4MATIC all-wheel drive, but the technology can only go so far. To get the most out of the safety features of your Mercedes-Benz, you need to learn first hand how it reacts when road conditions are difficult.

That’s where the Mercedes-Benz Winter Driving Academy comes into play.

At $795 per person, the Mercedes-Benz Winter Driving Academy gives drivers the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz and learn proper winter driving techniques. The program is open to anyone who wants to learn how to maximize driving safety in winter, and features 12 Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

The objective of the program is to show participants how to react to a range of situations, and drivers get to take part in a variety of driving activities that include shortening stopping distances, maintaining traction in a range or environments, how to maximize ABS and ESP effectiveness, and how to perform emergency manoeuvers.

In total, there are five exercises: slalom(with and without the electronic stability program, braking techniques, BLA (brake, look, avoid), skid control (understeer and oversteer), and high-speed emergency lane change.

As mentioned previously, there are 12 vehicles in total starting with the Mercedes-Benz B-Class all the way to the SL-Class. Participants will also get behind the wheel of the CLA, C-Class Coupe, E-Class Sedan, GLA, GLK, M-Class, SLK and smart fortwo.

A breakfast and lunch will be served during the event.
