Honda beats its own record for sales in a March

Published on April 29 2016

Japanese manufacturer Honda sold a total of 14,647 vehicles last month, a new record for a month of March for Honda and a number unmatched since 2008.

Japanese manufacturer Honda sold a total of 14,647 vehicles last month, a new record for a month of March for Honda and a number unmatched since 2008. Honda sales in March 2016 represent an increase of 12 percent compared to the last year.

Honda's success can be explained by the success of the Honda Pilot, the new midsize SUV introduced last year which saw sales increase by 53 percent. The Honda Civic is still the most popular car in Canada while the Honda Accord midsize sedan and the Honda CR-V compact utility vehicle both had a great month as well.

“The overall value package of the stylish and versatile Honda Pilot continues to resonate with Canadian SUV buyers, pushing the brand and HCI to achieve March sales unseen since 2008,” said Dave Gardner, Senior Vice President of Operations, Honda Canada Inc. “With the new Civic coupe arriving in dealerships late March, we expect the latest addition to Honda’s expansive and sporty new Civic lineup to provide a further boost to our spring sales.”
