First Acura NSX Rolls Out of Production

Acura officially launched their 2017 NSX supercar in 2012, but it was a long time coming. The Acura management has wanted to introduce a supercar back into the lineup for almost ten years. Finally, after a few roadblocks and trips back to the drawing board, the Acura has found its way, and the first 2017 NSX has rolled off the production in Ohio.

More Than Worth the Wait

The new Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio was built and dedicated to the production of the second-generation NSX, meant to follow in the footsteps of a successful first generation. The PMC has been designed to combine high production technologies and human craftsmanship. Everything in the PMC revolves around the assembly of the all-new NSX. A nearby plant in Anna even hand-assembles the engine.

After a ten-year gap, the supercar is reborn with a new look and a new purpose. The owner of the VIN 001 NSX won his car at a Barrett-Jackson auction in January. The perk went for 1.2 million dollars, money donated to charity. The owner, Mr. Rick Hendrick, got to custom-build his new Acura hybrid super-car and even drove it off the production line himself.

The 2017 Acura NSX comes equipped with a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 engine rated at 500 hp, 406 lb-ft of torque and a top speed of 307 km/h. The combustion engine is teamed to a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission and a rear direct drive electric motor, placing the new NSX in a new category of hybrid sport cars alongside the BMW i8, a fair competitor both in capability and style.

Hybrid Efficiency, Pure Driving Experience

On the inside, the NSX offers entertainment and comfort features including HandsFreeLink Bluetooth connectivity, seven-inch touchscreen display, navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, active noise cancellation, cruise control, heated Milano leather seats as well as numerous optional features for customization. As part of the extended Honda family, safety is a given. That’s why the Acura NSX is equipped with all the necessary safety features and technologies such as multi-angle rearview camera, vehicle stability assist with traction control, and brake force distribution. With no elaborate features that do the driving for you, the experience behind the wheel is as pure as can be.

The Acura NSX is the first supercar to be designed and produced entirely in North America. The most striking car from the Acura lineup is finally making a comeback and at Camco Acura, we are very excited to see the legend return. If you are as curious about it as we are anticipating it, come meet us and ask about the most elite product from our lineup.
