5 Impressive Facts About the 2017 Acura NSX Coming Soon to Canada

Published on August 29 2016

The 2017 Acura NSX is definitely a supercar, but it’s a supercar like you’ve never seen before.

The 2017 Acura NSX is one of the most anticipated high-performance vehicles coming to Canada this year, and buyers in Ottawa will be able to count on Camco Acura, one of the few exclusive NSX dealerships in Canada. The new NSX is truly an engineering marvel, and there are quite a few impressive facts that potential buyers will surely be happy to know about. Here are five of them.

There are a Lot of Engines in the 2017 Acura NSX

The 2017 Acura NSX is definitely a supercar, but it’s a supercar like you’ve never seen before. Indeed, the NSX is powered by not one, not two, but three engines; two electric and one standard gas-powered unit. The latter is a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that delivers 500 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque.

As a stand-alone engine, this unit would have been powerful enough to make the 2017 Acura NSX coming soon to Canada a supercar. But Acura engineers didn’t stop there. They added a 47 horsepower electric engine in between the engine and transmission, as well as two electric motors packaged together with a single clutch each developing 36 horsepower and 54 lb-ft of torque that power the front wheels.

You Can Lose Your Driver’s License in the NSX

The Japanese supercar’s total output is 573 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque. The 2017 Acura NSX can reach 100 km/h in a little over 3.0 seconds, and a nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission manages everything. Oh, and the 2017 NSX is all-wheel drive which makes it perfect for the Ottawa winter if you can’t stand the thought of not driving it for six months.

The 2017 Acura NSX is the Most Comfortable Supercar in Canada

Anyone who has had the opportunity to drive the 2017 Acura NSX will tell you that this is not your average exotic. Although the performance levels are through the roof and the car is more powerful than just about anything in this price range, the NSX is a comfortable car that can be driven daily without too much compromise.

The 2017 Acura NSX has a Ninja Mode

The overall comfort of the 2017 Acura NSX is aided by various drive modes including Sport, Sport-plus, and Track. As expected, each mode ups the ante in terms of performance and engine sound, but the fourth mode called Quiet reminds us that the new NSX is indeed a hybrid car. Quiet mode is just as it sounds, a mode that relies only on the electric engines in order to allow the NSX to cruise around without making a sound.

It’s Built Not too Far from Here

And finally, the 2017 Acura NSX is the only supercar available to buyers in Canada that is actually built in North America (in Ohio to be more exact), if you exclude the upcoming Ford GT.
