When thinking about hybrids, what is the most notorious model that comes to mind? The Toyota Prius is generally the more obvious choice. As the second mass-produced hybrid to have been introduced on the market, the Prius has come a long way over the 16 years it’s been on the North American market, surpassing its competitors in every way possible.

2017 Toyota Prius: Where Hybrids Got Their Start

Today, Toyota has furthered their knowledge and understanding of hybrids and applied it to other models for a more diversified hybrid lineup. It is no surprise that the Toyota Prius has sold close to 10 million units worldwide, with the last million achieved only in the last year. These numbers are something to be proud of, and serve as proof that Toyota offers the best hybrids on the market.

In recent years, the Prius family has grown. From the standard Prius people have come to know, the family has grown to offer three models with the introduction of the family-oriented Prius v and the small urban-minded Prius c.

If both the original Prius and the Prius c are versatile, the Prius v ups the ante by combining all the convenience of a small utility vehicle with a five-door hatchback format. With five comfortable seated places and a 917-liter cargo volume that can reach 1,906 liters, the v is the ideal vehicle both for its efficiency and its versatility. For 2017, the model has also been slightly revised in the wake of the fully reworked Prius, for a more modern touch.

Plenty of Room in the 2017 Toyota Prius

Including the cargo volume, the 2017 Prius v offers increased trunk space thanks to a variety of compartments distributed throughout the vehicle. Look for the dual glove box, the compartments in the trunk as well as the ones located under the rear seats.

And to make sure everyone travels in comfort, the Prius is equipped with numerous features including heated seats, a full infotainment system with 6.1-inch display and navigation, push start button with smart key system, cruise control, backup camera, panoramic sunroof, Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio, wheel-mounted controls and much, much more.

The 2017 Prius v is powered by a 1.8L, four-cylinder Atkinson cycle gasoline engine combined with Hybrid Synergy Drive technology. The electric power is produced by a 60 kWh, nickel-metal hybrid battery-pack, for a total combined output of 134hp and a very convenient 5.5L/100km fuel economy rating on the highway.
