The world’s best-selling vehicle just turned 50, and it’s Toyota that’s earned the right to celebrate this milestone. Having set the bar so high for itself, the manufacturer had quite the challenge when it came to doing the model justice for its anniversary edition. How do you make a worldwide best-seller, produced at more than 40 million units worldwide, even better? Well, they succeeded, and now the bar is set higher than ever thanks to the improved 2017 Toyota Corolla.

Big Milestone, Bold Design

With the major overhaul introduced in 2013 with the Corolla’s eleventh generation, the model received a bold new look, with a design that broke away from convention and marked the beginning of a new design era for Toyota. This year, the model is celebrating 50 years on the road, and it’s sporting a new and updated look for the occasion. The front section of the sedan receives a slightly elongated nose with a hood line in the shape of a downwards V, a honeycomb hexagonal front grille, 17-inch wheels and a set of intricate LED fog lights. Also new to this year are two additional paint colors.

And what better way to celebrate a half-century of excellence than with a Special Edition version of the model? This 2017, Toyota is introducing the Corolla XSE with trim-specific badging and black cherry accents on the inside.

Toyota Safety Sense Now Available on All Trims

For 2017, the entire Corolla lineup also receives the Toyota Safety Sense package in standard equipment, regardless of the trim level. The package includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist and automatic high beams, joining the Star Safety system in the menu of safety features. On the inside of the cockpit, the 2017 Corolla receives a new instrument panel and new interior trim designs. It is also offered with features such as heated seats, wheel-mounted commands, cruise control, keyless entry with push start button, moon roof, backup camera, infotainment system with navigation, heated steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity and streaming capacity.

Three of the four trim levels of the world’s best-selling car are powered by a 1.8L engine rated at 132 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque, offered with your choice of a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT. The Eco version sports a 140hp, 1.8L block with a continuously variable valve train mechanism that allows an excellent fuel economy rated at 6.9L/100km, versus 7.5L/100km for the standard engine.

The updated 2017 Toyota Corolla is now available at Kingston Toyota. You can now own the world’s best-selling car in its best iteration yet.
