The 2017 Outback is the perfect vehicle for those who don’t want a crossover in their driveway. This alternative offers much more than additional performance and comfort, it also provides the legendary Subaru safety. The 2017 edition of the Outback is offered in 2.5i and 3.6R models that are derived in entry, Touring, Limited and Premier variants.

The 2017 Outback 2.5i is powered by a 175-hp 2.5-litre four-cylinder SUBARU BOXER engine.  A 6-speed manual transmission is standard in the 2.5i and 2.5i Touring models, but buyers may also opt for an optional CVT. This powerplant is both responsive and fuel efficient, with a fuel consumption of 7.3 L/100 km highway and 9.4 L/100 km city (when equipped with the optional Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission).

The Outback 3.6R is powered by a 256-hp 3.6-litre 6-cylinder SUBARU BOXER engine. This version has a towing capacity of 1,224 kilograms, and is equipped with standard X-Mode. X-Mode automatically takes control of the engine, Subaru symmetrical full-time AWD system and braking to ensure optimal handling and drivability in tough conditions. Finally, all Outback 2.5i models have a larger battery with more cold cranking amps.

Inside, the Touring models (both 2.5i and 3.6R) get a new 7-inch AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA audio system with a high-resolution capacitive touch-screen display, STARLINK smartphone integration (including Aha radio), dual USB port/iPod control, auxiliary audio input and SMS text messaging capability and Siri Eyes Free compatibility. SiriusXM Satellite Radio with SiriusXM Advanced Audio Services is also standard. Finally, the 2.5i Limited and 3.6R Limited models now come standard with a heated steering wheel and an improved power liftgate.

More driver assistive technologies in the 2017 Subaru Outback in Ottawa, Ontario

All new for 2017 is the addition of the 2.5i Premier with Technology Package and 3.6R Premier with Technology Package trim levels. The exterior features of these brand new trims are impressive, with a dark titanium grille, 18-inch wheels with a dark grey high-gloss finish, low-profile silver roof rails and plated door handles and side sills.

This new Technology Package also offers the state-of-the-art high beam assist. This feature is designed to assist the driver during night driving, by automatically switching the headlights to low beam when the system detects either a vehicle in front or an oncoming vehicle, then returns to high beam when the road ahead clears.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the Outback (with optional EyeSight) with its 2016 Top Safety Pick+ award. Come and see it at Ogilvie Subaru Today!
