2016 Toyota Yaris Sedan: Stylish and bold

Published on October 28 2015

The 2016 version of the Yaris Sedan has been completely remodeled.

The Toyota Yaris has always been a favorite in the popular subcompact segment and the 2016 edition of this reliable city car has undergone a complete makeover. It now boasts a bolder exterior style and new, innovative standard equipment. The all-new 2016 Toyota Yaris Sedan is available in two versions, the Yaris Sedan Base (starting at $18,795) and the Yaris Sedan Premium (starting at $20,000).

All-New and Greatly Improved

Both versions of the Yaris Sedan are powered by a 1.5 L, 4-Cyl engine that is rated at 103 hp and 107 ft-lb of torque. This efficient engine can be coupled with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission (option) on the base model. The Premium version comes as standard with the 6-speed automatic. In the fuel consumption department, the Yaris is and always has been a champion. The fuel mileage is 7.6 l / 100 km in the city and 5.7 l/ 100 km on the highway for a combined mileage of 6.7 l /100 km when the Yaris Sedan is equipped with the manual transmission. As for the automatic gearbox, it helps drop the same figures to 7.2/5.6/6.4. Both variants of the 2016 Toyota Yaris come with front ventilated disc brakes, rear drums, antilock braking system (ABS), brake assist (BA) and electronic brake force distribution.

Good things DO come in Small Packages

Despite its small size, the Yaris sedan offers plenty of interior room. With standard fold down rear seats (60/40), rear seat headrests, rear center headrests and front bucket seats along with standard air conditioning, the Yaris sedan is very comfortable. Moreover, the cruise control feature, power windows, 3-spoke, tilt and telescopic steering wheel with integrated audio controls are also neat standard features on both models. If you require a little bit more luxury, the Premium version comes standard with heated front seats, USB audio input, Bluetooth capability, 6 Speakers, and a 7" display screen, among other premium features.

The 2016 version of the Yaris Sedan has been completely remodeled on the outside. Bolder, more aggressive styling is paired with distinctive features like standard power-adjustable, colour-keyed, heated mirrors. Both models feature sharp-eyed, reflector style halogen headlamps, piano black bumpers, and chrome grille surround. The Premium version, however, goes a little bit further with fog Lamps and a set of 16” alloy wheels. A highly-rigid body structure that's enhanced with front and rear suspensions provides a great compromise between sporty handling and a great ride comfort. The cargo space is impressive for a subcompact car, with 382 L.
