2016 Honda Fit: the Greatest Five-Door Hatchback on the Market

Published on February 29 2016

The new Fit improves on its predecessors in all aspects.

Since its introduction, the Honda Fit has always been popular for many reasons. Its style, performance, affordability, and reliability are only a few of those reasons. For 2016, the Honda Fit comes back with more features and even better looks. It is offered in DX, LX, EX EX-L Navi trims. Prices start as low as $16,402 for the DX variant.

The Best Just Got Better

The 2016 Honda Fit looks better than ever. Its wider stance, more stylish lines, and a much bolder attitude will make heads turn. Beautiful LED taillights are standard on all variants as well as the stylish roof-mounted antenna. In the front, a pair of beautiful multi-reflector halogen headlights give the Fit a distinguished look. EX and EX-L trims come with One-Touch power moonroof with tilt feature, mirror-integrated LED turn indicators and integrated fog lights.

Every Honda Fit comes equipped with the very practical and versatile 60/40 Split 2nd-Row Magic Seat. This feature enables the Fit to handle many types of cargo; the maximum cargo space is 470 L when the seats are up and 1492 L when they are down. The interior finish is superior to any other vehicles in the category, with high-quality materials and upscale textures. Every variant also comes standard with the HandsFreeLink bilingual Bluetooth wireless mobile phone interface and a multi-angle rear-view camera. But the EX-L Navi variant gets the great Display Audio System with HondaLink and Honda’s Next Generation Satellite-Linked Navigation System. Every model except the DX gets the steering wheel-mounted cruise control feature.

Miniature but Mighty

Powering the 2016 Honda fit is a 1.5-liter four cylinder engine that produces a healthy 130 hp of power and 114 lb-ft of torque. The sporty six-speed manual gearbox is the standard transmission, but buyers opting for LX, EX and EX-L Navi models are also able to choose a continuously-variable transmission (CVT). The Fit offers a very dynamic driving experience thanks to its electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering (EPS) and MacPherson strut front suspension system with stabilizer bars. The Fit is one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in the sub-compact category; when equipped with the CVT transmission, it only consumes 7.0 l/100 km on the city and 5.7 l/100 km on the highway.

The new Fit improves on its predecessors in all aspects. Not only are its performance, comfort, and efficiency above the standard within its segment, it also features many advanced passive safety features, like the Next-Generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, and dependable active safety features like vehicle stability assist (VSA) with traction control, electronic brake-force distribution and hill start assist.
