2016 Honda CR-V: It Can Do it All

Published on December 21 2015

The 2016 Honda CR-V is the continuity of the mid-cycle refresh and is now available for you to view at Civic Motors.

Honda’s lineup has been taking turns returning to the drawing table over the course of the past year. With the introduction of a new aesthetic on the brand new HR-V, Honda’s bigger crossover also needed a refresh to keep up and that’s exactly what it got last year. The 2016 Honda CR-V is the continuity of the mid-cycle refresh and is now available for you to view at Civic Motors.

The upgrades have been purely aesthetic, inside and out. Last year, the CR-V received a modernized front portion, an evolution from the previous design rather than a complete change. A black front grille and LED-framed headlamps give the family-oriented SUV a more dynamic look. With a slightly more aggressive silhouette, the vehicle has now some added curb-appeal, for a stronger presence in a very competitive and increasingly popular segment.

A Solid Family Vehicle

The inside of the CR-V has also been upgraded and received a new dashboard design, adopting the two-level screens with, at the bottom, a 7-inch touchscreen to access the HondaLink infotainment system and at the top, a smaller white-on-blue screen that displays information such as the time, the range, the fuel economy, and such. The CR-V has also been turned into a good family vehicle with ample seating for five and over 1,000 litres in cargo volume behind the second row of seats to accommodate everything a young family can throw at it. The crossover can also tow up to 680 kg when for some added convenience.

A Long List of Options to Make Your CR-V Better

Along with the aesthetic upgrades also comes a list of both standard and optional features that includes dual-zone climate control, the HondaLink infotainment system with enhanced smartphone compatibility, navigation, vocal commands, adaptive cruise control, multi-angle rearview camera, proximity key with push start button, steering wheel mounted controls, heated front seats, Bluetooth connectivity, among other things. Rising up to its 2015 title of best safety pick + awarded by the IIHS, the Honda CR-V is also equipped with top of the line safety features, including brake assist, collision mitigation braking system, forward collision warning, vehicle stability assist, Honda LaneWatch and lane departure warning.

A single powertrain option is offered on all versions of the CR-V, a 2.4L, 4-cylinder engine rated at 185hp and 181 lb-ft of torque with standard all-wheel drive on all trim levels, except for the base model, and a CVT. And thanks to the combination of the CVT and the ECON mode, the CR-V offers an average fuel economy of 8.6L/100km.
