2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, urban sports car meets rugged off-road SUV

Published on August 19 2014

''Don’t miss out on the automaker’s new 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class compact SUV, that includes the styling, sophistication, features and technologies, and power that is sure to appeal to many drivers. ''

Sometime this fall, Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts will have the chance to get their hands on the automaker’s all-new compact SUV. Mixing style and urban sports car elements with that of a more rugged off-road vehicle, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class is bound to be a crowd-pleaser.

There is no doubting the prestige and stylistic appeal of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, and at first glance, it is clear that the automaker’s new 2015 GLA is able to deliver on this expectation. The SUV offers a distinct, eye-catching style due to the dramatic headlights and overall front fascia, bodylines, chrome roof rails, panoramic sunroof and 18-inch wheels that are sure to attract quite a bit of attention. The designers wanted to create a vehicle with clear contours and smooth surfaces that exude a sense technological sophistication and emotional appeal, and they seem to have achieved their goal.

When entering the vehicle, the combination of high-quality materials, contours, and choice of combinations further promotes a sense of luxury. The automaker says that all trim surfaces are “galvanised in silver-shadow for material authenticity, resulting in a metallic finish with a ‘cool-touch’ effect,” and overall, we assume consumers will enjoy this attention to detail found within the new Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class.

As for features, the multimedia system in the new 2015 GLA includes new functions and apps, and the automaker’s COMAND Online system offers an improved map display, and an additional Bluetooth profile. The latter element not only allows passengers to access the Internet via their iPhone, but also displays images in bmp and png formats, in addition to “the real-time transfer of traffic data via SIRIUS traffic.”

In terms of power, the GLA 45 AMG, the top of the line version, is equipped with the world’s most powerful four-cylinder series-production engine, capable of going from 0-100km/h from standstill in just 4.8 seconds. With a top speed of 250 km/h, and the ability to still provide exceptional fuel economy, the 2015 GLA practically demands to be driven. In addition, this engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission with three shift modes. Buyers of the SUV can expect a mixture of fuel-efficient performance, smooth driving, and quick acceleration along with instant shifts when switching between modes.  A less powerful yet more fuel-efficient four-cylinder option is also offered.

Those intrigued by the automaker’s sleek-looking SUV can also opt for the new generation 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system that will enhance traction, agility, and driving safety. And consumers should also note that all 4MATIC models include a standard off-road transmission mode and Downhill Speed Regulator for tough descents.

Finally, if safety is a concern, the new 2015 GLA offers several driving assistance systems, such as Attention Assist that detects drowsiness, and Collision Prevention Assist with adaptive Brake Assist that is radar-based, and serves to protect the driver against collisions. In addition, the system will begin to work from a speed of only 7 km/h.

Don’t miss out on the automaker’s new 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class compact SUV, that includes the styling, sophistication, features and technologies, and power that is sure to appeal to many drivers.
